What even is a private key?
Think of it as the master password to your wallet. Whoever has it controls everything inside. With a bank, they hold the key — they can freeze your account or take your money. With your XBoard wallet, only you hold it.
It's created inside your browser
The moment you login, your browser generates the key locally on your device — like a secret created in your own room. It's never sent to our servers. It never travels over the internet. We never receive it.
Even if XBoard gets hacked — you're fine
Attackers can only steal what's on our servers. Your private key is never there — so there's nothing to steal. We store your public wallet address (like a bank account number — totally safe to share), but never your key.
This is called a non-custodial wallet — the gold standard in crypto. It means XBoard could shut down tomorrow and your wallet, your funds, and your access remain yours. Permanently. No one can take it away because no one else ever had it.
